Information is emerging that the twice weekly flights by Airlink from Johannesburg via Windhoek / Walvis Bay to the island of St. Helena may soon take off from Cape Town.
The island government is reportedly in discussions with Airlink about the change which could take effect as soon as the summer of 2023 as a seasonal service. At the same time has it been reported that the island government is also seeking an increase in flights to and from the island. It is not know at this time if this could mean a second carrier might be invited to begin services from South Africa.
Airlink has hitherto been the only carrier serving St. Helena from Johannesburg via a stopover in Namibia.
