(Posted 20th February 2014)

Talking in airline language, Jambojet.com is now in the phase of ‘taxiing’, the final stage before takeoff which has been set for 01st of April with an 06.45 a.m. departure out of Nairobi. Long in the making, did finally movement get into the new aviation baby with the appointment of Willem Hondius as the company’s CEO last year, and after putting his team together all systems are now green for go in April. The two Boeing B737-300 which Jambojet.com will lease from Kenya Airways, will go into the paintshop in March and will then be presented to the airline fraternity and the public at large in what will undoubtedly be a launch ceremony long afterwards remembered.

The all economy configuration will allow for greater passenger numbers, compared to the dual class configuration of the standards Kenya Airways planes and inflight catering, drinks or snacks, must be paid for in cash as is customary for LCC’s.

Bookings on the major reservation systems will go ‘live’ on the 27th of February and the early birds will get the lowest fare in the market in Kenya to fly from Nairobi to Mombasa, Kisumu and reportedly Eldoret, standing at an astonishing Kenya Shillings 3.000 only, INCLUSIVE of all taxes and regulatory fees. This fare allows for one piece of hand baggage to be taken on board, and checked baggage will attract a further payment of 500 Kenya Shillings per checked piece.
