‘FOREIGN AIR CARRIER PERMIT‘ FIRST OF SEVERAL NEEDED FOR KENYA AIRWAYS TO LAUNCH US FLIGHTS

Information received from Nairobi speaks of Kenya Airways’ having received the first of several required permits and licences to launch direct flights to the US.
While another audit from the Transportation Security Administration will take place in October this year at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport – and passing it will be a strict requirements for all other airline permits afterwards – has KQ nevertheless launched the process of securing the required air service licences in America.
The now attained provisional Foreign Air Operators Permit has Kenya’s national airline lays the foundation for a series of additional approvals, permits and licences but constitutes an important first step to completing the process and staying on course for a potential launch of KQ direct flights from Nairobi by mid next year.
Earlier this year had Kenya’s main international airport, Jomo Kenyatta International, secured FAA Category 1 approvals and is now in the process to operationalize its status as a gateway to the US, subject to passing the final audit by the TSA in a few months time.
