The Seychelles Tourism Board will in due course complete an MoU with Swiss leisure carrier Edelweiss to engage in marketing activities ahead of the flight launch which is anticipated for late September this year.
The airline, was was reported here before, plans to use an Airbus A340 on the route, serving the new destination once a week.

with a capacity of 314 seats. This includes 27 lie-flat Business class seats and 76 ‘Economy Max’ seats.

Edelweiss passengers besides the regular 23 KG allowance for a suitcase, are notably given additional checked baggage allowance which includes surfboards, SCUBA gear, golf equipment and bicycles at no extra charge, which makes the airline very attractive to active vacationers.

After Condor from Germany and Austrian Airlines from Austria will Edelweiss serve another German speaking market from Switzerland and given the appeal the Seychelles island have there and the rising demand for quality vacations, will no doubt tourist numbers rise fast once the new flight is operational.

Last weekend did British Airways resume flights to the Seychelles and French low cost long haul airline JOON will also begin scheduled services at which time Air Seychelles will cede the route to them, having been pushed off the through tactical maneuvers by the French airline which demanded and strangely enough also received, clearance to operate on the same traffic days Air Seychelles used to connect Paris with Mahe.
