The inaugural flight from Kigali to Guangzhou took off a short while ago from Kigali International Airport, using an Airbus A330-300 for the service.
The route will initially be served three times a week every Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday with the return flight landing back in Kigali the following day.
This aircraft is configured in a three class layout of Business, Premium Economy – incidentally still one of Africa’s only such seperate cabin offerings – and Economy classes.
The flight will take 14 hours and 50 minutes to reach the Chinese city and routes via Mumbai in India, making it the longest such service by RwandAir. On board was RwandAir’s CEO Yvonne Manzi Makolo together with government officials.

Only recently did RwandAir add Addis Ababa to its growing network, now covering 28 destinations. When additional Airbus long haul aircraft are delivered later this year, are flights to New York also on the cards.
