RwandAir suspends flights to Cape Town, Johannesburg, Harare and Lusaka

AIRLINES FACE DIFFICULT CHOICES AS CORONAVIRUS MUTATIONS SPREAD FURTHER

(Posted 08th February 2021)

RwandAir has confirmed the suspension of their flights from Kigali to Cape Town, Johannesburg, Harare and Lusaka, effective today, 08th February 2021.

The airline, together with health authorities in Rwanda, is monitoring the current challenges posed by the Coronavirus variants which have begun to spread from South Africa into the wider Southern African region and are expected to make their way further into the African continent.
European airlines, such as KLM, had suspended flights already at a much earlier stage following directives of the Dutch government and other countries across Europe too have either reduced or halted flights to South Africa – but not yet other countries in Southern Africa.

As the situation is evolving will ATCNews continue to monitor events and developments and report updates as and when available.
