Seychelles arrivals up by 21 percent so far as Germany remains top source market

SEYCHELLES MAKES MAJOR GAINS IN TOURIST ARRIVALS AGAIN

(Posted 08th August 2017)

Arrivals to the Seychelles were by July ahead of last year by a staggering 21 percent once again as numbers rose to 198.898 visitors, giving rise to hope for another record breaking year.Tourists from Germany topped the list, followed closely by France with the UAE now in third place, again a massive vote of confidence by that particular market which supports the Seychelles tourism sector with multiple flights every day from Dubai and Abu Dhabi.
27.000 Germans came to the Seychelles between January and July, an increase of 33 percent compared to 2016, with these figures adding to the consternation of the Seychelles’ tourism private sector that flights from Duesseldorf to Mahe will be scrapped come September.
However, while Duesseldorf ‘lost‘ both of their weekly flights has Paris also been added by Air Seychelles for a flight reduction from presently four to three, also reducing seat capacity on the national airline from the French market which is currently trailing not too far behind Germany.
