Seychelles ‘first international business hotel’ gains shape on Eden Island

EDEN ISLAND SET FOR SEYCHELLES FIRST BUSINESS HOTEL

(Posted 27th May 2014)

Eden Bleu’ is the name of Eden Island’s and in fact the Seychelles’ first dedicated business hotel, which is expected to open later this year with a 300 seat conference facility and some 87 rooms and suites on the archipelago’s first man-made island turned into a major tourism and marina facility, strategically located just minutes from both the international airport and the city of Victoria.

The 40 acre large island has over the past 9 years progressively emerged as one of the Seychelles largest foreign investments in the leisure and real estate sector and put doubters to shame as phase after phase was completed and then sold to buyers from around the world who, with their title deed, also automatically qualified for a residence permit on the Creole island paradise.

With no conventional vehicle traffic permitted, other than deliveries at certain times to the shops and supermarkets, residents must park their cars at a central car park near the main entrance to the island, which is reached over a bridge from the main highway from the city to the airport, from where visitors and residents use electric carts to get around to their villas, residences and condominiums or from there reach the main shopping complex, the restaurants and the various entertainment facilities which have sprung up over the past two years.

When the final phase of Eden Island is completed in 2016, will Eden Island have nearly 600 accommodation units available of which at least 72 are villas, all with private mooring for the yachts of the owners. With a cost estimated to exceed over half a billion US Dollars this is seen as the Seychelles largest ever foreign investment and likely to attract similar projects in the future, should the government sanction the creation of further artificial islands.
