Seychelles International Airport to benefit from cooperation with Abu Dhabi

ABU DHABI AIRPORTS READY TO INVEST IN EXPANSION OF SEYCHELLES INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT

(Posted 13th October 2016)

A broad MoU has been signed between the Seychelles and Abu Dhabi covering the Gulf state’s potential entry into the ongoing expansion of Seychelles’ main aviation gate to the world.
Various stages of modernization and additions have already been completed and work continues to turn ‘SEZ‘ into a world class facility.
Abu Dhabi, through national airline Etihad, is already a shareholder in Air Seychelles to the tune of 40 percent and has played a major role in returning the airline to profitability while expanding fleet and destinations especially across the Indian Ocean.
Mr. Joel Morgan, Seychelles’ Minister for Foreign Affairs and Transport, signed the MoU with Abu Dhabi’s Ali Majed Al Mansoori, Chairman of the Abu Dhabi Airport company signing on behalf of the Emirate.
Abu Dhabi is also at present developing its airport with the addition of a new central terminal and of another runway, increasing capacity to an initial 45 million passengers, benefiting Air Seychelles passengers connecting through that airport to a growing number of code share destinations on flights operated by Air Seychelles and Etihad partner airlines.
