Sheraton Kampala hosts Uganda Vintage Car Show

UGANDA’S VINTAGE CAR SHOW RETURNS THIS WEEKEND

Saturday will see the fourth Uganda Vintage & Classic Car Show go underway at the Sheraton Kampala Hotel gardens. A wide range of lovingly restored and well preserved vintage cars will be on display, no doubt under the watchful eyes of their owners, when the expected record number of visitors crowds the display area and mobs the cars to get a close up view of dashboards and engines. Given the present sunny weather this will no doubt be another highlight in the calendar of Kampala events and a magnet for Kampaleans trying to get a glimpse of yesteryear’s wheels.

A jury of car experts and enthusiasts will once again determine the winners in the 18 categories of vehicles and motorbikes on display and of course for the best dressed spectators:

CATEGORY 1
Utility Vehicles (including old style four (4) wheel Drive vehicles, double cabins, mini buses and pick-ups, Trucks and light trucks)

CATEGORY 2
Touring Cars and Station Wagons 1,300cc and below

CATEGORY 3
Touring Cars and Station Wagons from 1,301cc to 1,700cc

CATEGORY 4
Touring Cars and Station Wagons from 1,701cc to 2,000cc

CATEGORY 5
Touring Cars and Station Wagons from 2,001cc to 4,000cc

CATEGORY 6
Touring Cars and Station Wagons from 4,000cc and above

CATEGORY 7
Classic Rally Cars (made in 1989, or earlier)

CATEGORY 8
Veteran, vintage and post vintage cars made up to December 31st 1940

CATEGORY 9
Most Appealing Guest Car (to be voted by the public)

CATEGORY 10
Best Vintage Customized Car

CATEGORY 11
Best Cars Overall;
1st Position
2nd Position
3rd Position

CATEGORY 12
Most Appealing Car (to be chosen by the social Judges)

CATEGORY 13
Car with the most Intriguing History

Best International Entry

Best Dressed (to be chosen by the Social Judges)

Entertainment, for children as well as adults and all day catering are of course also part of the full day event. Admission to the venue starts at 10 a.m. when the doors open. The Uganda Tourism Board is one of the sponsors of the event and will use the opportunity to highlight the many different activities which take place in Uganda, available for tourists to participate in once they are in the country.
