Sun Africa scoops five World Luxury Hotel Awards – a credit to Kenya as a top destination

SUN AFRICA SCOOPS 5 WORLD LUXURY HOTELS AWARDS

(Posted 07th December 2014)

Rahul Sood, Group Managing Director of Sun Africa Hotels, will probably need to pay for extra baggage charges when he returns home to Nairobi tomorrow, after scooping an astonishing 5 of the annual World Luxury Hotel Awards last night at the Grand Gala Award Ceremony in Cape Town / South Africa.

Sun Africa’s Sovereign Suites in Limuru, the Keekorok Safari Lodge in the Masai Mara with two awards and their lake side Kiboko Luxury Camp at the Lake Naivasha Country Club took the honours and for good measure did the company itself also get a prize, making it five overall.

Said Rahul shortly after the announcements were made: ‘WOW – what a victory for Sun Africa Hotels. We have FIVE awards. Thank you to my team and colleagues for this grand success’.

This correspondent in fact spent a few nights two months ago at the Kiboko Luxury Camp following the Magical Kenya Travel Expo and reviewed the camp once again on TripAdvisor, besides giving it mention in feature articles focusing on the Kenyan Rift Valley as one of the country’s major tourism attractions and an up and coming destination for both Wellness Tourism and Conference / Meetings Tourism. Due to time constraints at the time was it not possible to stop over at the equally award winning Sovereign Suites but no doubt has that little gem in the high hills of Limuru outside Nairobi fully earned another award, following a few others it scooped in past years. This former private mansion converted into an all-suite property with all amenities high rollers and discerning travelers would expect, it offers a relaxed country side setting but is yet within easy reach of the city itself.

Congratulations for putting some spotlight back on Kenya’s embattled tourism industry which, as I keep saying, very much continues to have what it takes to give visitors that priceless holiday of a lifetime and where in particular safaris across the country’s national parks have been entirely free of any incidents.
