Fishing Stats & New Island Bar!

Dear ATC Readers,

Our 2017/2018 season has begun in true form and one can’t help reflect on last season’s catches: Our destinations saw an impressive 17,237 game fish caught and safely released during the previous season and many a triumphant fisherman walking away with noted titles.

Alphonse Fishing Co. takes pride in the satisfaction of our guests as well as the continued conservation efforts and alliances with the Alphonse Foundation and Island Conservation Society. Through the continuous monitoring, preservation and protection of the fisheries we operate in, we can ensure the rejuvenation of the species found here. Through these sustainable practices we achieved the following phenomenal numbers successfully caught and released:

  • 12,662 Bonefish

  • 1,612 Giant Trevally

  • 1,245 Bluefin Trevally

  • 139 Giant Triggerfish

  • 93 Yellow Margin Triggerfish

  • 95 Milkfish

  • 66 Sailfish

  • 65 Indo-Pacific Permit

  • Numerous Barracuda, Grouper, Snapper

The new season promises equally impressive numbers as well as the introduction of our newly renovated and added facilities. Improvements include a newly renovated and fully stocked Fly Shop, full fleet of East Cape EVO-X Skiffs, in-room amenities from Renzetti (including fly tying vice and tools), a newly upgraded watersports facility including the new Barnacles Bar as well as the new Sunset Bar opening in November.

When choosing to fish with Alphonse Fishing Co., you’ll get to experience our 3 prime fly fishing destinations of:

Alphonse Atoll

The stunning Alphonse Atoll includes the beautiful islands of Alphonse, St. François and Bijoutier, but fishing takes place mainly around Alphonse Island and St. François. Fishing around Alphonse allows for stunning views of the Island as well as excellent Bluewater Fly Fishing, whereas fishing at St. François allows you to challenge yourself on its expansive white sandy flats. When fishing at Alphonse and St. François you can choose from 22 Beach Bungalows or 5 Beach Suites located on the Island.

Astove Atoll

Astove Atoll is for the adventure angler looking for an exclusive encounter. The terrain at Astove varies from shore breaks to calm coral flats and white sandy flats which have changed very little in the last few decades. Astove is the ideal destination for targeting Bonefish, Triggerfish, Giant Trevally, Indo-Pacific Permit, Grouper, Wahoo, Barracuda, Tuna and many more. The past season saw guests landing up to9lb Bonefish and 6 GTs per guest. The Astove Lodge only caters for 6 guests per week to ensure privacy and minimum impact on the destination.

Cosmoledo Atoll

Cosmoledo Atoll is known as the GT Capital of the World as more Giant Trevally frequent its flats than any other destination on the planet. The previous season saw a whopping 1,206 GTs landed between 86 guests – that’s 14 per person over a 6 day period. Cosmoledo consists of a sizeable lagoon surrounded by vast, wadeable sand flats, dotted with islands of various shapes and sizes which allows for the targeting of Triggerfish, Bonefish, Indo-Pacific Permit, Barracuda, Snapper and Grouper. Guests fishing at Cosmoledo are accommodated on the state-of-the-art liveaboard vessel, the SY Lonestar.

We look forward to welcoming you to our abundant fisheries for the best fly fishing experience in the Seychelles.
