Ibom Hotel and Golf Resort is located at Nwaniba Road, Uyo, Akwa-Ibom, Nigeria. This is a 5 star hotel with over 80 rooms and over 5 meeting rooms/conference rooms and one big hall with a club/bar at the top of the hotel. This post will be giving you a detailed review of the hotel based on my experience there.
Room:
Upon entrance into my room, I was already impressed with how big the facility was, only to be told that it was the smallest in the hotel. I was really wowed by that, because one of the key factors anyone looks out for when paying for a room in a hotel or even when renting a house is the amount of space the facility has. And I’d say in terms of the size of the hotel room, the price is worth every penny of its cost. My room had two small beds, I am sorry I do not have pictures, but you would see more of it in my Akwa Ibom Vlog on Youtube (CLICK HERE TO WATCH)
Food:
Oh my! Some people think I love food because I post a lot of pictures and videos of food on Instagram (@TheFisayo) and on YouTube. But how can I pass such a beautiful site such as this (see picture above) and not take a good picture? And off course I do like food, who doesn’t? The food tasted as good as it looked. I was hoping it would help me gain some weight but it didn’t .
Golf Course:
One of the major selling point of Ibom Hotels is its golf course, mainly because it is the largest in West Africa! So, golf tournament and the likes takes place at the hotel as often as it happens. I do not play golf, but I enjoyed the scenery of the golf course – it was breath taking and also stressful to walk on, especially if you are not used to hiking – because you would be climbing a lot of hills if you plan on going round the golf course. The highest hill also gives you a beautiful view of the city of Uyo.
Pool:
Just like I said on Instagram today, I do not know how to swim, so I did not even bother trying to enter the pool, but I did manage to get an Instagram worthy picture . You can tell for yourself that it is a beautiful site to behold, and the pool is as CLEAN as it looks in the picture. It equally has cabanas around which gives it a romantic feel (for honeymooners especially).
Gym:
The Gym facility here is on another level! I particularly like the gym because of the way it is structured – such that most of the walls are made of glass, thereby giving you the opportunity to look through the walls and appreciate nature or just so you can feel the warmth of the beautiful environment you are surrounded by.
Security:
I felt like I was in an airport when I walked through the main entrance of the hotel, this was because all our bags were being put into the scanning machine, while we also walked through a “scanner” ourselves. It was pretty decent, they have good security measures in place, with CCTV properly positioned in the right places.
Parking:
With the immerse amount of land that Ibom hotel is planted on, you can guess that parking is not an issue.
Price:
Well, the cheapest room goes for about ?80,000+, but I hear it is about to be reviewed, so make sure to check out their site for that www.ibomgolfresort.com.
Marina:
The marina is where people take boat rides to and from Calabar. Adjacent to the marina is the tennis court. And this boat I was seated on, is one of the boats used to shipped the slaves from Akwa-Ibom (If you do not know, Akwa-Ibom shares an historical heritage of Nigeria, I wrote explicitly about this in my previous post on Akwa Ibom’s tourist attractions, CLICK HERE to read it).
Serenity:
What I liked the most about the hotel is it’s peace and serenity it provides to ones soul! I stay in Lagos, and no matter where you are, you can hear the horns and noise from the street. But in this hotel, it’s all peaceful and beautiful, with so much nature to behold and admire.
Extra Services:
Other services are offered on request: 24-hour front desk, airport pick-up service, free shuttle service, concierge service, luggage storage, currency exchange, ATM, babysitting services, express check-in/check-out, cleaning services, dry cleaning/laundry service, business centre and a meeting/Banquet/Conference facility.
If you haven’t watched my video on my trip to Akwa-Ibom CLICK HERE to do so, the video review of the hotel will equally be out soon, let me know if you want me to release it as soon as possible!
I hope you found this informative enough to make a good decision on your next travel, leave a comment and let me know what you like the best about the hotel from my highlights.
