The Observatory private cottage – ready, steady and soon set to go …

THE BILLION DOLLAR VIEW GETS A NEW LOCATION IN UGANDA

Investments in the hospitality industry in Uganda are presently few and far between, given the impact of #COVID19 on the business and the lack of government incentives or outright bailout money for the sector.
International tourists are returning to Uganda’s neighbours already for the past one and a half months while the Pearl of Africa remains in self inflicted isolation and hibernation.
Yet, throughout the pandemic, has work progressed – during the initial lockdown phase at a slower pace of course – on the new private cottage at The Observatory, located in Rubirizi District and overlooking a scenery second to none.
Below the new cottage does the view spread from Maramagambo Forest to Lake Nyamusingire, lakes Edward and George with the Kazinga Channel linking the two, the Blue Mountains of the Congo and, good weather permitting, the majestic Mountains of the Moon, aka Rwenzori Mountains.

Like the main cottage, which offers 3 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, a kitchen and dining room at ground level and a lounge and terrace with a jacuzzi on the upper level, will the new addition also offer guests a small kitchenette, of course an en suite bathroom and combined bedroom / sitting room – but the most impressive part will be the secluded setting into the escarpment below the main cottage which guarantees total privacy for guests.

Birdwatching is an all day activity, as is watching the movement of game in the Queen Elizabeth National Park below, where elephants frequently move between the patches of forest, where buffalo can be seen congregating and where Uganda Kobs are ever alert to the danger of predators.

Bookings are open for the existing cottage and can be done via GeoLodges’ website https://geolodgesafrica.com/the-observatory/ but it is understood that advance reservations will be accepted for the new private cottage from November onwards.

Guests of both the main cottage and the new private cottage – name to be revealed in good time – have access to the swimming pool and sauna, can take advantage of guided walks and book for a massage.
