Aviation pundits are shaking their heads as Uganda’s national airline Uganda Airlines has chosen to acquire Boeing aircraft, in addition to already flying an Airbus and Mitsubishi CRJ900 fleet
Common wisdom would suggest that fleet rationalization is the order of the day due to growing cost pressures on maintenance, spare part stores and in particular training.
It has been suggested to ATCNews that Ethiopian Airlines will be a major beneficiary of this deal in regard of both maintenance facilities and pilot training and refresher courses viz a viz their simulator facility in Addis Ababa. This is no surprise given that Girma Wake, a former Ethiopian Airlines CEO and Board Chair, is presently Acting CEO at Uganda Airlines.
