Both the WHO and the Ugandan Ministry of Health, in a joint statement earlier this week officially declared Uganda free of Ebola, after the incubation period – following the two imported cases which crossed over from Congo – expired and made way for the announcement.
While visitors to Uganda were never at any risk, the cases were almost immediately diagnosed and the affected individuals isolated, did blown up reports nevertheless overstate the dangers of Ebola. The Uganda Tourism Board, and ATCNews among other groups, made it clear that Uganda was and remained a safe destination, and with the official announcement now out in the public domain, are the doors to the Pearl of Africa as usual wide open for visitors, both tourists and those coming for trade and business.
