One of the new additions to the Vanilla Islands Pro Am Tours 2018. The penultimate day of the tournament took place on the Avalon Golf Estate course, located on inland Mauritius. With the sun shining as they met, the teams quickly forgot their 5th day tiredness, and got down to making the most of the magnificent golfing.
After a lovely group photo, a shotgun sounded to mark the beginning of the day.
The Avalon Golf Estate is among one of the newest golf courses on the Island of Mauritius, in the heart of Bois Chéri, known for its tea plantations.
Designed by the famous South African architect Peter Matkovitch, the course spreads over the hills that overhang the island’s coastlines. It shows off the varied, luxuriant vegetation that gives the area the appearance of a beautiful tropical garden.
The palm trees blend with colourful flowers, ferns, ravines and aromatic plants. A real delight for the players, who were filled with wonder as they enjoyed an incredible day there.
In spite of challenging holes and sometimes blind plays, the golfers showed us some beautiful play. There was a standing ovation for Richard PELISSERO who scored a fabulous eagle ‘drive put’ on the 4th hole. His team greeted him with hugs.
Several teams stood out today! Birdies flourished on the course…
The team of pro Olivier AUBERT, made up of Laurent MARCICKI, François BRIVAL and Antoine MACQUET took home both the Net and the Gross. With a total of 78 gross and 97 net points, their shouts of joy could be heard all over the course.
There was very little separating the teams at the top of the leader board! Tomorrow will be a decisive day. Everything is still to play for, the Vanilla Islands Pro Am Tours 2018 has us on tenterhooks right until the end!
