UNWTO Welcomes Newest Member, Antigua and Barbuda 



The Caribbean destination of Antigua and Barbuda  became UNWTO’s newest Member State and eighth in the Caribbean region when its application was approved by the 24th Session of the General Assembly in December 2021. The Government appointed Dr. Dario Item, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to the Kingdom of Spain as its Permanent Representative to the UNWTO as well as its Head of Permanent Mission to the Organization.

Liberia unveils National Tourism Brand and Marketing StrategyThe President of the Republic of Liberia George Weah has today 27th January 2022 unveiled the country’s national tourism brand and marketing strategy in a ceremony in the capital, Monrovia.This momentous feat is part of the Government’s commitment to improving its economic growth and employment opportunities through tourism.

Morocco to Reopen its Borders on February 7Morocco said on Thursday that it would end a ban on flights to the kingdom, in place since November 29 in an effort to limit the spread of the Omicron variant of coronavirus.A government statement published by the country’s official MAP news agency said that the ban would end on February.

FITUR 2022 rounds up with record Trade Participation



FITUR 2022, the International Tourism Trade Fair organised by IFEMA MADRID has ended with impressive trade participation. This special tourism recovery edition which has been held since last Tuesday, 19th January, and came to an end on Sunday 23rd January 2022 highlight the efforts by the entire tourism industry value chain to explore new opportunities to be able to look forward to 2022 with strong expectations for an accelerated recovery.

Senegal on course to building a resilient Tourism EconomyThe West African country of Senegal is determined to build a strong tourism ecosystem that is hinged on health safety and security, infrastructure and creating an enabling environment for sustainable investments into the sector. This is according to the Secretary-General of Senegalese Agency for Tourism Promotion, Mamadou Diallo. Speaking to VoyagesAfriq at this year’s FITUR in Madrid, he said their presence at the tourism trade show was to let the rest of the world know about the resilience of the country as a destination.

Zimbabwe Tourism Authority makes  a push for ISO Certification  

Zimbabwe Tourism Authority (ZTA) has engaged the Standards Association of Zimbabwe (SAZ) seeking ISO Certification 9001/2015 quality management system.ISO certification of the national tourism authority dovetails with the National Tourism Recovery and Growth Strategy and is critical in the implementation of the National Development Strategy (NDS1) as the nation focuses on Vision 2030.
