ICAO SECURITY WEEK 2026

Aviation security sits at an inflection point. Evolving threats — including cyber threats, increasingly complex supply chains, and shifting geopolitical risk — are converging to reshape the priorities of every civil aviation authority, airport, and airline worldwide. The organizations that respond systematically and not reactively will be best positioned to protect their operations and their people.

ICAO Security Week 2026 brings together ICAO and State leadership, alongside the practitioners who deliver that response day-to-day: aviation security regulators and inspectors, airport and airline security managers, cargo and cyber specialists, international organizations, and industry partners.

Hosted by Kazakhstan in collaboration with ICAO, the event connects global leadership with the practitioners putting aviation security into practice.

What the Event Delivers

Over three days, nine sessions take delegates from where aviation security stands today to what practitioners can do about it, all aimed at turning global best practice into action.

The week opens by taking stock: the global state of aviation security 25 years on; how audit findings become lasting capability; and whether the Global Aviation Security Plan (GASeP) remains fit for the road to the Aspirational Goal. It then turns to today’s most pressing risks: air cargo and mail security across a chain with many actors; cybersecurity across the aviation system; conflict zone volatility; and sustaining security modernization beyond the budget line. It closes by putting people at the centre, examining workforce, competency and culture, and looking ahead to the third High-Level Conference on Aviation Security (HLCAS/3).

Delegates leave with practices they can apply at home, while the ideas emerging from Astana feed into preparations for HLCAS/3.
