RWANDAIR’S NEW AIRBUS FLEET BRINGS PASSENGERS WIFI IN THE SKY

It is just over a month from now that RwandAir will take delivery of its first new #Airbus #A330-200 named Ubumwe, before later in the year Umurange, a second and larger variant Airbus A330-300 will join her sistership.
Configured in three classes, a first for East Africa, will these aircraft offer unprecedented comfort in Business Class, where the 1x2x1 layout with the latest flatbed cocoon seats will no doubt impress passengers.
The new Premium Economy Class then also sets new standards with a 2x3x2 seat layout while Economy Class passengers still enjoy a 32 inch pitch in a 2x4x2 cabin layout.
Inflight entertainment systems on board will be state of the art when the new Airbus will commence commercial operations, initially flying four times a week nonstop to and from Dubai. It is expected that the airline will however showcase the new bird across most of its network to prepare the market for the new long haul destinations which will include Mumbai and Guangzhou with an expansion to Europe expected in early 2017.
Also new will be the availability of high speed WiFi on board, matching the services of some of the world’s aviation giants and again setting new standards for African aviation.
With the delivery of three new aircraft between end September and December will the overall fleet for the first time in RwandAir’s history go double digit and then rise to twelve when in 2017 a fourth Boeing B737-800NG will be received in Kigali.
RwandAir, under the leadership of CEO John Mirenge and Chairman of the Board of Director Girma Wade, himself a former CEO of Ethiopian Airlines, has written a new chapter for African aviation and shows the potential well managed African airlines have and how best to tap into the market by serving key destinations with state of the art aircraft and a well oiled operation.
