The VIP event room at the Kenyatta International Conference Centre, the venue for the 2022 World Travel Awards for Africa and the Indian Ocean, was packed to capacity by an illustrious crowd, representing the very best of Africa’s hospitality, aviation and tourism industry.
Kenya was crowned as ‘Africa’s Leading Destination 2022‘ once again and the event venue itself, the recently refurbished KICC, was named as Africa’s Leading Meetings & Conference Destination 2022.
Kenya’s national airline – despite its continued financial ailment – and its subsidiary Jambojet, both also bagged multiple honours again, being named Africa’s Leading Airline 2022, Africa’s Leading Airline – Business Class 2022, Africa’s Leading Airline Brand 2022 and Africa’s Leading Low-Cost Airline 2022.
The Four Points by Sheraton at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport, was also once again named as Africa’s Leading Airport Hotel 2022.
Other winners from Kenya are shown below, once more taking a massive lead again over her East African neighbours.

In Uganda did Kampala Serena Hotel take the coveted awards again for both Uganda’s Leading Hotel 2022 and Uganda’s Leading Hotel Suite 2022 while other winners of the evening were:

South Sudan had but one winner this year, the Pyramid Continental Hotel as the country’s leading hotel for 2022:

In Rwanda did the Kigali Serena Hotel again claim the award as leading city hotel, followed by quite a few other winners at the night:

Rounding up the winners from the East African Community member states is Congo DR, which made a good showing with the Goma Serena Hotel notably among the three companies handed trophies:
