Have you ever wondered which intra-African international air routes recorded the highest seat capacity during the first half of 2026?
According to AeroTrail analysis, Addis Ababa Bole International Airport led the continent’s intra-African connectivity with an estimated 5,562,177 scheduled seats, followed by Johannesburg O.R. Tambo International Airport (3,570,065 seats) and Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (1,791,717 seats).
The Johannesburg (JNB)–Harare (HRE) corridor ranked as Africa’s busiest intra-African international route, recording an estimated 540,260 scheduled seats during H1 2026. It also ranked as the 11th busiest airline route overall on the continent, highlighting the strength of travel demand between South_Africa and Zimbabwe. The route remains one of Africa’s most competitive international markets, served by multiple airlines.
The Nairobi (NBO)–Addis_Ababa (ADD) route ranked second with approximately 331,984 scheduled seats, while the Johannesburg (JNB)–Addis Ababa (ADD) corridor completed the top three with an estimated 293,820 seats.
