As the first ever recipient of the Africa Tourism Awards Lifetime Achievement Award during the inaugural event in London last year it is with particular pleasure that I can break the news of this year’s award winner. Amb. Dr. Alain St. Ange has been a good friend and close collaborator in our common quest to promote tourism across Africa and in fact across the world.
His is a lifetime dedicated in both private and public sector to shaping tourism, building bridges across nations, and championing Africa on the global stage.
The Africa Tourism Awards are proud to recognise Alain St.Ange as a Lifetime Achievement honouree at the Africa Tourism Awards 2026.
From serving as Head of the Seychelles Tourism Board to becoming the Seychelles’ Minister of Tourism, Civil Aviation, Ports and Marine and championing regional collaboration through the Indian Ocean Vanilla Islands, his career reflects a deep commitment to advancing tourism, cultural diplomacy and international cooperation.
His influence extends across continents, earning him numerous honours and recognition as one of the respected voices in global tourism.
This year two personalities will be recognized with a Lifetime Achievement Award and the second recipient was named as Craig Rix.
I am happy to see him too recognised, being the founder of the Travel Africa magazine and Gecko Publishing, as a Lifetime Achievement honouree at the Africa Tourism Awards 2026.
Since launching Travel Africa in 1997, Craig has dedicated his work to challenging misconceptions about Africa, building confidence among international travellers, and providing the inspiration and practical guidance they need to explore the continent.
Today, with 113 issues published, Travel Africa remains the only international magazine dedicated to African travel, reaching readers across consumer and travel trade audiences in print and digital formats.
His enduring contribution to African tourism is a testament to the power of storytelling in connecting people, changing perceptions and opening destinations to the world.
Join up to celebrate a remarkable legacy and honour two men whose contributions continue to inspire the future of African tourism.
