Ethiopian Airlines is said to be eyeing flights to the recently opened newly modernized and expanded Victoria Falls International Airport come April 2017.
The information is circulating in the corridors of the AFRAA Annual General Assembly which is presently being held in Victoria Falls with Air Zimbabwe as host airline.
The new facility offers a longer runway, making intercontinental flights possible with large wide body aircraft but notably also has additional terminal spaces which include the new domestic departure terminal, inaugurated by President Robert Mugabe just three days ago on the 18th of November.
Victoria Falls, even more than its opposite number Livingstone, has been a magnet for tourists coming to Zimbabwe and using a visit to the world’s greatest waterfalls as a springboard to also explore nearby national parks and the ancient ruins of Great Zimbabwe.
Should Ethiopian indeed launch flights to Vic Falls would the destination no doubt benefit from increased tourist traffic transiting through Addis Ababa.
