| The Monitoring the Illegal Killing of Elephants (MIKE) Programme of the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora (CITES) recently added five new sites to its network. The MIKE site designated network now spans 74 locations across Africa – a remarkable evolution from its original 39 sites in 2001. By welcoming these sites, the MIKE Programme is strengthening its ability to track poaching trends and guide conservation actions where it is most urgently needed. |
