19 NEWBORN GORILLAS WILL GET NAMED AT KWITA IZINA 2017

(Posted 25th August 2017)

While discussions, at least outside Rwanda, are ongoing about the rationale of doubling gorilla permit fees a few months ago to a whopping 1.500 US Dollars per person, will the Rwanda Development Board present 19 new born gorillas for naming on the 01st of September, when the week long activities peak outside the Volcano National Park headquarters in Kinigi.
The annual event has been celebrated in Rwanda since 2005 when the then independent ORTPN launched the naming concept.
Notably, although delayed by one year, will the 41st annual congress of the Africa Travel Association also take place in Rwanda, the first time under the auspices of the Corporate Council on Africa, which acquired the organization a year and a half ago.
Questions have been raised why the two programmes – #ATA41 takes place between 28th and 31st of August – have not been more closely aligned and equally promoted unlike the past two congresses in Kampala in 2014 and Nairobi in 2015 which were some of the best attended in the ATA history.
