LUCY MBUGUA CONFIRMED AS NEW KENYA AIRPORT AUTHORITY CEO

Grapevine talk was finally confirmed yesterday when the Transport cabinet secretary Eng. Michael Kamau gave the green light for the KAA board chairman to formally announce the appointment of Ms. Lucy Mbugua as the new KAA Chief Executive Officer. Ms. Mbugua had served as Acting Chief Executive since the controversial departure of her hapless predecessor, who like his own predecessor was mired in controversy and subject to endless allegations. Miss Mbugua on 15th of August last year took over from Stephen Gichuki who after the devastating fire at JKIA had nowhere to go but to go.
According to information provided by a Nairobi based aviation source does Ms. Mbugua hold a Bachelor Degree in Marketing, a Master Degree in Business Administration and a Post Graduate Diploma in Sales and Marketing and is currently reading for a Ph.D. in Strategic Management.
At one time heading the Marketing and Corporate Communications Department at Kenya Airways she then left the national airline for the Kenya Airport Authority where she was holding the position as General Manager Marketing and Business Development before being catapulted into the Acting CEO position last year.
KAA is presently engaged in a country wide upgrade of aviation facilities with the biggest project no doubt the ‘Greenfield’ expansion of Jomo Kenyatta International Airport which includes among other major construction activities a second runway and a new mega terminal. KAA has last week signed a contract for a new temporary terminal able to handle over 2.5 million passengers per annum to bridge the capacity gap until ‘Greenfield’ comes on line, decided to demolish the burned out shell of the arrivals building and have the entire area reconstructed and is in the final few months before opening the new Terminal Four, all activities aimed to have JKIA stay ahead of the regional pack as East Africa’s premier aviation hub. I applaud KAA for two reasons – the level of detail required for the role needs a multi-tasker with extensive marketing experience and a non-sycophant. Well done KAA board! #ProudlyKenyan
Quite so, Lucy made a name for herself already at KQ and will no doubt tell influence peddlers and sycophants to f*** o** … nicely of course, as only a lady can and yet leaving no doubt on her intent.
