WWF urges increased investment in Uganda’s wildlife corridors

The World Wide Fund for Nature has released a comprehensive transboundary report, outlining a strategic framework to protect 20 ecological corridors linking national parks across Uganda, Rwanda and the Democratic Republic of Congo. The report, titled “Wildlife Corridors Study for the Greater Virunga Landscape,” urges massive infrastructure investment and policy updates to stave off habitat collapse across one of Africa’s most biodiverse ecosystems. The study warns that while 75% of the network remains natural and functional, five critical linkages are facing degradation.
