Following the lead of first and foremost the US State Department and meanwhile many other countries, has India now also directed their citizens to only travel to Uganda, Congo DR and South Sudan if absolutely essential.
How this will affect the passenger numbers from Mumbai to Entebbe can only be estimated but no doubt will the number of Indian citizens travelling to Uganda now reduce in line with their government’s travel advisory.
Uganda Airlines has, following a directive of their own government, halted flights to Kinshasa, the capital city of Congo DR, although the Ebola outbreak is centered about Eastern Congo and no cases have as yet been reported from the resto of that country.

It could not be established what measures India had, or will put into place, to screen passengers arriving from the three countries. WHO has meanwhile also extended relevant notices to beyond Congo DR and Uganda, now also including Rwanda, Burundi, Tanzania, South Sudan and Ethiopia to step up vigilance and preparedness in view of skyrocketing case and casualty numbers in Congo DR.
Uganda’s cases remain presently at 5 and the hunt for additional contact persons is on across the country.
